Respig®

Oral suspension.

Broad-spectrum antimicrobial.

Each 5 mL of oral suspension contains:
Sulfamethoxazole………………… 200 mg
Trimethoprim…………………….. 40 mg
Excipients c.s.p………………….. 5 mL

Broad-spectrum antimicrobial indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract, urinary tract and soft tissue infections, caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim.

Orally.

• Dosage of the active ingredients:
  30 mg of the association per kilogram of body weight every 24 hours, or 15 mg of the combination per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours, for 7 to 10 days.
• Product Dosage:
  5 mL per 8 kg of body weight, every 24 hours; or 2.5 mL per 8 kg of body weight, every 12 hours, for 7 to 10 days.
  Do not administer for more than 14 days.

Shake before use. Administer by dosing syringe.

Dogs and cats.

• Do not use in dogs with liver and/or kidney damage.
• Do not administer to animals hypersensitive to sulfonamides.
• Do not use on Pinscher dogs.
• Do not administer to pregnant or lactating females.

• The combination of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim may prolong clotting times in patients medicated with coumarin anticoagulants.
• Antacids may decrease the bioavailability of sulfonamides if administered concurrently.
• Trimethoprim may reduce the therapeutic effects of cyclosporine (systemic) and increase the risk of nephrotoxicity.

Prolonged therapies with potentiated sulfonamides may induce hypothyroidism in dogs. Acute type I (anaphylaxis) or III hypersensitivity reactions may occur. These seem to be more prevalent in large dog breeds, with the Doberman Pinscher being more susceptible than other breeds.
It can also cause Sicca keratitis in dogs.

Keep out of reach of children.

Do not handle by people who are hypersensitive to sulfonamides.

Empty containers can be discarded as household waste, without any special precautions. Do not dispose of containers with product residues on the ground or in waterways. For expired or unused products, contact the manufacturing laboratory.

Store between 15 and 30 °C, away from light. Once opened, use within 14 days.
Discard the unused product after that period of time.
