Liquid petroleum jelly

Oral solution.

Laxative.

Horses.

Each 100 mL of oral solution contains:
Liquid petroleum jelly (mineral oil)………….100 mL

Laxative in the therapy of impaction and/or intestinal obstructions.

Administer 2 to 4 liters of liquid petroleum jelly per 450 kg of body weight through a nasogastric tube until clinical symptoms are resolved.

• Do not administer when there is a risk of regurgitation or other pre-existing swallowing difficulties.
• Do not administer to pregnant foals or mares.

• Absorption of significant amounts of petroleum jelly from the intestine can cause granulomatous reactions in the liver, spleen, and mesenteric lymph nodes.
• Administration of petroleum jelly for long periods of time or frequently may interfere with the normal absorption of nutrients (fat-soluble vitamins). If the condition persists, consult a veterinarian.

• Keep out of reach of children
• Use with caution in dehydrated and/or debilitated animals.
• Make sure the tube is effectively in the stomach before administering this product to decrease the risk of lipoid pneumonitis.

• Do not administer in conjunction with docusate sodium as it may increase absorption of the same.
• Do not administer in conjunction with fat-soluble vitamin preparations, as it interferes with the absorption of these vitamins.

• In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation occurs, consult a doctor.
• In case of ingestion of large amounts, get immediate medical help.

Dispose of unused product residues in their original packaging. Dispose of waste of this product with caution along with household waste.

Store at room temperature, between 2 and 30 °C, away from light. Use immediately once opened and discard any excess product.
