Solution for injection.

Fast-acting synthetic oxytocin.

Each 1 mL contains:
Oxytocin Acetate equivalent to 10 I.U. of Oxytocin.
Excipients c.s.p………. 1 mL

Neurofisin® is a hormonal preparation biologically titrated in U.I (International Units) containing Oxytocin, a hormone of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland obtained by chemical synthesis. The synthetic product is endowed with a perfect pharmacological action, surpassing the natural hormone, but it is deprived of other activities such as vasopressor, which is found in organ extracts, in which vasopressin is present in variable amounts. It has been shown that the absorption of the synthetic hormone and its effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus is faster, while the metabolization and elimination of the animal organism is similar to that found with the original hormone.

Cattle, horses, pigs, cats, dogs, sheep and goats.

Prolonged labor due to primary or secondary uterine inertia, postpartum hemorrhage, retained placenta. Stimulation of milk secretion after parturition or emptying of the fourth mammary mastitic prior to antibiotic therapy. Adjuvant action in the replacement of the uterus in case of prolapse. Emptying of the uterine cavity in pyometra terpia and endometritis.

• Cattle and horses: 4 to 6 mL equivalent to 40 to 60 IU intramuscularly or subcutaneously, or 2 to 4 mL equivalent to 20 to 40 IU intravenously slowly.
  
• Sheep and goats: 0.6 to 1.5 mL equivalent to 6 to 15 IU intramuscularly or subcutaneously, or 0.2 to 0.5 mL equivalent to 2 to 5 IU intravenously.
  
• Sow: 2 to 4 mL equivalent to 20 to 40 IU intramuscularly or subcutaneously, or 0.5 to 1.5 mL equivalent to 5 to 15 IU intravenously slow.
  
• Dogs: 0.3 to 1.2 mL equivalent to 3 to 12 IU intramuscularly or subcutaneously, or 0.05 mL equivalent to 0.5 IU intravenously slow.
  
• Cats: 0.3 to 0.5 mL equivalent to 3 to 5 IU intramuscularly, or 0.05 mL equivalent to 0.5 IU intravenously.
  If the effect is insufficient, repeat the same dose half an hour after the first injection.

• Do not administer in cases of dystocia due to fetal malpresentation until this situation is corrected.
  
• Do not administer to animals with hypocalcaemia and/or severe hypoglycemia.

• It is given only after complete dilation of the cervix has occurred.
  
• Avoid administration by pregnant women, as it may cause uterine contractions.
