Indicated for the treatment of fever, inflammation and painful conditions of the bones, joints and musculoskeletal system in dogs and cats. Its use is especially recommended for the treatment of post-surgical pain, and in cases of osteoarthritis, inflammation of the musculoskeletal system and traumatic injuries in general.
Dogs and cats:
0.2 mL per kg body weight (2 mg of Ketoprofen per kg body weight), every 24 hours, for up to 3 consecutive days.
Avoid the use of the formulation in dehydrated, hypovolemic, hypotensive or hypoproteinemic animals as there is a potential increased risk of renal toxicity in them. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
As Ketoprofen has a high affinity for plasma proteins, it can be displaced or displaced by other drugs with the same characteristics, including Warfarin, Phenylbutazone, etc.
Since ketoprofen can inhibit platelet aggregation and also cause gastroenteric ulceration, when other drugs that disrupt hemostasis (e.g., warfarin, heparin, etc.) and/or cause intestinal erosion (e.g., aspirin, flunixine, phenylbutazone, corticosteroids, etc.) are used, the likelihood of bleeding or ulceration increases.
In certain cases Ketoprofen can cause vomiting, diarrhea and transient anorexia at therapeutic doses. In some individuals, edema, nausea, gastrointestinal irritation and ulceration, nervousness, constipation, urticaria, skin rash or fever may also be observed. These symptoms quickly go away when treatment is stopped.
