Micospectone is a 1:2 combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin. Lincomycin, an antibiotic that belongs to the lincosamine family, has a broad spectrum of action, mainly against Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasmas.
On the other hand, it has the pharmacokinetic characteristic of enormous diffusibility to all organs and tissues where, whatever the route of administration, it reaches concentrations higher than blood concentrations.
On the other hand, spectinomycin, an aminocyclitholic antibiotic, has a slightly larger spectrum of action compared to lincomycin, since it acts on some Gram-positives, most Gram-negatives and mycoplasmas. Administered parenterally, spectinomycin is sufficiently diffused throughout the body.
The contemporaneous use of the two active ingredients allows to obtain an extensive synergism of action against numerous bacterial agents, including mycoplasmas, reaching a minimum inhibitory concentration, significantly reduced compared to that manifested with antibiotics used separately.
This synergism is generally developed by injection, while orally, as spectinomycin is practically not absorbed by the gastroenteric system, the phenomenon occurs only in localized infections in the sector against diseases of birds, piglets and unweaned calves.

Cattle, pigs, sheep and goats.

Administer by deep intramuscular.

Dosage of the active substance

  • Cattle, sheep, goats:
5 mg of lincomycin and 10 mg of spectinomycin per kg body weight every 24 hours and in severe cases every 12 hours for 4 or 2 days, respectively.
  • Pigs:
5 mg of lincomycin and 10 mg of spectinomycin per kg body weight every 24 hours and in severe cases every 12 hours for 3-7 days.
