OVO-6® Suspension for Injection

Injectable suspension.

Contraceptive.

Each 1 mL of suspension for injection contains:
Medroxyprogesterone Acetate………….. 50 mg
Excipients c.s.p……………………………………. 1 mL

Single-dose depot contraceptive. It prevents estrus in dogs and cats, when administered during the anestrus period.

Administer exclusively in anestrus.

Intramuscular or subcutaneous route on the inner thigh.

Dosage of the active ingredient:

• Dogs: Administer 2.5 to 3 mg/kg in a single dose.
  
• Cats: Administer 25 mg total in a single dose.

Product Dosage:

• Dogs: Up to 20 kg: Administer 1 mL in a single dose. From 20 kg or more: Administer 2 mL in a single dose.
• Cats: 0.5 mL in a single dose.
  For long-term reproductive control, administration of the product should be carried out every 6 months in and every 3 months in cats. Single dose.

Dogs and cats.

• When administered subcutaneously, skin depigmentation, skin thinning or hair removal of the application area may be observed.
• There may be increased appetite and/or thirst, depression, lethargy, behavioral changes, adrenocortical depression, breast changes (including enlargement, milk production, and neoplasms), acromegaly, diabetes mellitus, and pyometra.
• Adverse effects are related to the administration of this hormone during other stages of the reproductive cycle that do not correspond to the anestrus period.

• Shake the ampoule well before removing its contents.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Administer only during the period when anestrus has been diagnosed.

Progestogens interact with the following drugs:

• Antidiabetic drugs: Antagonism of the hypoglycemic effect.
• Barbiturates, Griseofulvin and Phenytoin: Reduce the plasma concentration of progestogens.
• Theophylline: Increases the plasma concentration of Theophylline.
• Warfarin: Reduces the blood-thinning effect.

• Do not administer during the proestrus, estrus and metaestrus periods.
• Do not administer in the presence of breast tumors of unknown nature.
• Do not administer in animals with a history of geni-urinary tract infections
• Do not administer to dogs with a history of false pregnancy.
• Do not administer in animals with abnormal and persistent vaginal discharge.
• Do not administer to animals in irregular heat and females in first heat.
• Do not administer to pregnant or lactating females

• Do not handle by people who are hypersensitive to progestogens.
• Do not handle by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
• Wash your hands with plenty of water immediately after administering the product.
• In case of contact with skin, eyes or mucous membranes, wash immediately with plenty of water.
• In case of accidental injection, go immediately to a medical center and show the product insert.

Empty containers can be discarded as household waste, without any special precautions. Do not dispose of containers with product residue on the ground or in waterways. For expired or unused products, contact the manufacturing laboratory.

Store between 2 and 30ºC, away from light. Use immediately once opened and discard any excess product.
